Quick start

Let's get Availight ready together.

No tech skills needed. We will go one small step at a time: plug in the Controller, wake up the Door Unit, connect Wi-Fi, and try your first status.

Before you begin

Gather a few things first.

A calm setup starts with everything close by. Think of it like getting the pieces ready before building something small and useful.

Plug in both pieces

Place the Controller and Door Unit on the same table and connect power. Keeping them close helps them find each other, like two friends meeting before walking to the door.

Find your Wi-Fi name

Have your Wi-Fi name and password nearby. If you see a 2.4G Wi-Fi option, choose that one. If you only see one home Wi-Fi name, start with the one you use every day.

Pick a helper screen

Use a phone, tablet, or computer for setup. It will simply help you answer a few questions, the same way a friendly checklist would.

Part I

Set up the two pieces.

The Controller is the screen you use. The Door Unit is the sign other people see. We will help them talk to each other.

Turn on the Controller

The Controller is the small screen that stays with you. Turn it on and give it a moment to wake up. If it is new or has been reset, it will show setup information on the screen.

Join the setup Wi-Fi

On your phone or computer, open the Wi-Fi list and choose the Availight name shown on the Controller. It may look like Availight-1234. This is normal. You are only talking to your Availight for a moment.

Open the setup page

If the Availight app is guiding you, follow the app. If you are using a browser, type http://192.168.4.1. Think of this as opening the little setup door inside the Controller.

Enter the code you see

If Availight asks for a code, use the code shown on the Controller screen. This helps Availight know you are standing right there with the device.

Let the Door Unit meet the Controller

Keep the Door Unit powered and close by. The Door Unit is the sign visitors will see at the door, and the Controller tells it what to show.

Name the room

Choose a room name people will understand right away, such as Eddie's Office, Studio A, or Consult Room 2. This name helps visitors know they are looking at the right door.

Connect to your Wi-Fi

Choose your Wi-Fi name, enter the password, and let Availight join your network. If it takes a minute, that is okay. Small devices sometimes need a little patience.

Try each status

Tap through Available, Busy, Focus, In a Call, and Auto. Watch the Door Unit change. This is the happy little test that tells you both pieces are working together.

Part II

Use Availight day to day.

After setup, Availight should feel like a friendly sign you can change in seconds.

Tap when plans change

Need quiet time right now? Tap Busy or Focus. Ready for visitors again? Tap Available. You are always in charge.

Let Auto help

Auto can help Availight follow your day when schedules or connected tools are ready. If that feels like too much at first, you can ignore Auto and use the simple buttons.

Show when you may be free

Availight can show a helpful hint, like when you might be available again. That gives visitors a kinder choice than knocking and guessing.

Part III

Let Smart Display help when you're ready.

This part is optional. You can use Availight by hand for as long as you want. Later, Smart Display can look at simple signals, like calendar time, and help change the sign for you.

Sign in gently

When you are ready, sign in with the Availight app or customer portal. This helps your Availight belong to your account, the way a key belongs to its owner.

Choose what Availight can look at

You can connect Google Calendar, Microsoft Teams, or an iCalendar feed. Pick only the calendars and signals you are comfortable using.

Keep private details private

The Door Unit should show simple messages like Busy or Available. It should not show meeting names, private notes, passwords, or personal calendar details.

Part IV

Keep Availight feeling good.

A few simple habits can keep setup, updates, and support much easier.

Use official updates

When an update is available, use the official Availight Downloads page. Keep both devices plugged in until the update is done.

If the Door Unit says Offline

Start with the simple things: check power, bring the Door Unit closer to the Controller, and restart both devices. Many little connection troubles clear up that way.

Share the simple clues

If you contact support, tell us what step you were on, what the screen said, and what you expected to happen. A photo of the screen can help a lot.
